Healthy_Recipes > My Morning Green Drink

In the morning after I exercise, I have my morning green drink as I like to exercise as much as possible on an empty stomach. So here's how I make my green drinks:

I combine the following in 7 single-serving size, BPA-free containers (or in a glass jar - see below):

1 tsp. organic spirulina

1 tsp. chlorella

1 tsp. Moringa

1 tbsp. Brewer's yeast (a good source of B vitamins) or Nutritional Yeast

1 tbsp. of whatever cereal grass powder I have on hand (wheat, barley or oat grass) My new favorite is Youngevity Super Greens.

1 tbsp. of silica powder

Optional: when I have it on hand I also include a scoop of Maca; colostrum or any prebiotic powder like inulin, FOS or arabinoglacatan; some powdered carrot and beet juice.

Then depending on whether I feel sweet or savory I also include in each container a combination of a few dashes each of either cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, cloves and ginger OR turmeric, cumin, *black pepper, sage and rosemary.

*The black pepper amplifies and increases the beneficial effects of the turmeric in particular as well as any spice it is combined with. Studies also show, it can also stop the formation of new fat cells! Definitely a win-win.

Then in the morning I just pop one container into my shaker bottle and either mix it with water in a shaker bottle or include it in my NutriBullet with some greens (see below).

I also love including a scoop or 2 of Beyond Tangy Tangerine powder - talk about a comprehensive nutritional drink! And so delicious - love the sweet-tart flavor.  Shake it up and enjoy!

**Alternately - I put some organic greens in my NutriBullet - like baby kale, spinach, chard, watercress, Italian parsley, microgreens or sprouts, cucumbers and celery - whatever I have on hand, water and a scoop of my greens (see below) and 2 scoops of Beyond Tangy Tangerine. If it is going to hold me over for a longer period of time, sometimes I also add 3 or 4 chunks of frozen pineapple or mango or in the fall especially about a 1/4 cup organic pureed pumpkin, butternut squash or some pomegranate arils and make a super nutritious NutriBlast! The ultimate green smoothie!

What I've been doing recently is mixing up all those nutritional powders mentioned above in a larger glass container and adding 1 heaping teaspoon of the mixture and 2 scoops of the Beyond Tangy Tangerine to my Nutribullet. I don't measure - I just put a good amount of each ingredient in until the glass jar is almost full and then shake it up to mix. Then it's ready to use and lasts for months.

If I've done my strength training that morning, I sometimes add a scoop of protein powder. Then I usually don't have my actual "breakfast" for a few hours as I practice intermittent fasting most days of the week. It's pretty amazing how satisfying that green drink is and how much energy it gives me.
