Sports drinks have artificial colors, sweeteners and chemicals and are anything BUT healthy.  One of the absolute best drinks is Beyond Organic Suero Viv.  It is fermented whey with live probiotics, enzymes and minerals and extremely hydrating.  My favorite flavor is Orange Cinnamon.

Simple Healthier Gatorade Alternative

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 2 cups of filtered water

  • 2 -4 tablespoons raw honey, to taste

  • 1/8 teaspoon unrefined salt (natural, unprocessed sea salt or Himalayan Crystal Salt)

Directions:

In a blender, blend all of the ingredients together until the honey is dissolved. Taste test and adjust as needed. Store in the refrigerator.

 

OR

Homemade, Healthy Lemon Electrolyte Drink

Ingredients (makes about 20 ounce)

  • Water – 20 ounces

  • Raw Honey* (raw is important if you want the best results) – ¼ cup

  • Unprocessed, natural Sea Salt (not table salt) - 1 teaspoon (Or Himalayan Crystal Salt)

  • Lemons – 2-3 (to taste) or 1/3 cup lemon juice concentrate if no fresh lemond available (I like Santa Cruz pure Organic Lemon Juice which I find at my health food store)

Warm up about ½ cup of the water to dissolve the honey and salt. *NOTE – don’t make the water hot…otherwise it’ll kill off the enzymes and other goodness found in the raw honey.

Put the raw honey and sea salt either in a shaker bottle or a large mason jar, pour enough warm water to cover and then stir/shake to dissolve the honey and salt.

Pour the lemon juice in the container, fill with cold water (add ice if you like), give it one more good shake and enjoy!

All are MUCH healthier alternatives to Gatorade.
