"Health or Wholeness – Is There a Difference?" Part One
The short answer is – yes. I believe health and wholeness are two distinct things. They are related, but wholeness is so much more than simply “health” as we usually think of it. When someone wants to be healthy, they’re usually referring to losing weight, getting blood sugar or cholesterol under control, changing their eating habits or beginning an exercise program. All good things. However, wholeness or living what I refer to as a “3-D life” is more. Physical health is only one part of it. True wholeness encompassses a healthy spirit and soul as well. Some people call this a holistic lifestyle. Whatever you choose to call it, it is worth cultivating.
Whether you realize it or not, you are already living a 3-D life. In fact, that is the way it is described in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, “our whole self, spirit, soul and body.” The key is making sure all three areas are balanced. You can be physically fit and healthy in your body, yet be spiritually lost and empty. Or, you can be physically and spiritually brimming with health and yet be lacking emotionally, which is part of the soul component. If any one area is not whole and functioning properly, your overall health will ultimately suffer. Just try concentrating on a task if you are worried about one of your children or a financial problem. Stress, anxiety and worry not only highjack your mental energies but are the cause of most physical complaints as well! So, let’s consider each one of these areas.
Your spirit is the real you, the core of your being, the part of you that is eternal right now and will live forever! As a Christian, your spirit, in subjection to the Holy Spirit within you, is to control your soul and body. We each connect with God, Who is a Spirit, through our spirit. The fruit listed in Galatians 5:22-23 is resident within our spirits and we have the ability to develop and grow them. As we use these fruits (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control) they develop just as a muscle does when it is exercised regularly. That’s one key to developing a strong, healthy spirit.
Your soul is not the same as your spirit. Your soul consists of your mind, will and emotions. With your mind you think and reason. The consequences of an unhealthy, unbalanced mind are devastating. Your will is the part of your being that houses the ability to make choices. The most obvious example of a will that is not balanced and whole is addiction. Then there are our emotions. Contrary to what many believe, emotions are neither good nor bad. They simply are. Our experiences and perceptions color how we respond to people and situations and affect our emotions. Emotional health is vital to a satisfying life.
Next month we will continue and discuss how to have a healthy soul as well as the importance of the physical or body component. Don’t miss it!
Here is Guest Contributor, Rob Clinton’s article:
COSMIC RIVERS
There is a certain unified power in all of us. This awesome, mystical force gives existence to everything around us. From the clothes we wear, to the house we live in, and yes… even the loved ones we hold dear to our hearts. Without this power, none of it would exist, and with it, we attract whatever we desire. This power of attraction resides in each and every one of us, and we “choose” how to use this power through our own thoughts. It is the power of all existence, knowledge, and life as we know it, and even as we don’t know it. It is the power of our ultimate Source. Yes my friends, to most of us it is known as the power of God.
God lives with us, and through us. The blessings and love of the universe are right here at our fingertips. All we have to do is believe, and be thankful for the blessings that are already here, and we will attract and receive blessings in more ways than we know.
Imagine in your mind for just a moment, a view of outer space, except there are no planets or stars, just empty space, and you are floating helplessly along in one huge bubble hoarding over your most prized possessions, such as your car, house, or boat. You also have all of these thoughts and stress swirling around you in this bubble and this bubble just keeps getting filled with things that seem to sync up with things you “think” about. You begin to feel powerless and overloaded. At that point you either wake up to a new way of thinking, or wither away and die in a stress filled life. Or, someone reaches out and helps you back on your feet, but then again, unless you “think” differently, you may fall victim to where you first started.
If you chose to think differently, you might say you had a paradigm shift, and then you may have seen that there was no bubble after all. If you could just reach up, and see beyond your stuff, and your everyday thoughts and emotions, you may have realized there were never any boundaries, and the space you’ve been floating in all along is not really empty space at all, but yet a fullness of life giving rivers. When you were able to reach up and touch this cosmic river, you saw that everything in your life had not been the remnants of a universal shortage, but was of an immense flow of abundance that belonged to everyone! And when you touched this abundance and saw everything as it was, God was finally able to freely pour His abundance through you as well, and thus you became another beautiful, heavenly river of life giving waters pouring into the lives of many.
Let go. Everything is already there, and all we have to do is believe, accept, and be thankful.

Did you know there’s a HUGE difference between regular, highly processed, white table salt and unrefined, unprocessed, natural sea salt? Table salt is sodium chloride. When you consume too much sodium, it can raise your blood pressure. Sodium is only one of the minerals that your body needs to function properly. However the difference between processed white table salt and natural, unrefined sea salt is the difference between night and day! Table salt is processed sodium chloride, while natural sea salt contains between 50 and 80 minerals as they exist in sea water as well as in our bodies. Each of these minerals work together synergistically with the others and are critical for health.
SUPPLEMENT SPOTLIGHT VITAMIN A and BETA CAROTENE
Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin. That means it is stored in your fat tissues. As with all fat soluble vitamins, it can become toxic if you take too much, although you must take huge amounts. If you do consume excessive amounts, it is stored in your liver and can cause serious health problems. Vitamin A is important for healthy eyes, skin and mucous membranes. It enhances the function of white blood cells thus helping your body fight infections. The best and safest way to supplement Vitamin A is to supplement with or eat fruits and vegetables high in beta carotene. Beta carotene is a natural chemical in the carotene or carotenoid family, which gives fruits and vegetables the orange-yellow-red color. It is not fat soluble and your body naturally converts it into Vitamin A. Once your body has stored enough Vitamin A, it limits any more storage of beta carotene. Good sources are carrots, cantaloupe, sweet potato, pumpkin, apricots and red bell peppers, as well as broccoli, spinach and dark leafy greens. One of the most effective sources of beta carotene that is very efficiently used by your body is spirulina, a blue-green algae you can get in capsules or as a powder to mix into a delicious green drink.

Word to the Wise
Proverbs 19:3 The Message: “People ruin their lives by their own stupidity, so why does God always get blamed?” If we take responsibility for our own thoughts, words and actions and stop slandering God by blaming Him for our sins and mistakes, I believe we will see our lives turn around for the better. What do you think?
