“Create a Healing Atmosphere” by Ann Musico
Your environment will either promote and support health and healing or hinder it. There are some very simple things you can do to improve your inner ecology as well as the environment surrounding you. Spirit: You can create a healing spiritual atmosphere by playing praise and worship tapes or CDs in your home and car regularly. Music has a very powerful effect. Surrounding yourself with praise and worship will nourish your spirit and change the entire atmosphere of your home. You can also play the Bible on CD and have God’s Word filling your spirit, home and car. If you are dealing with any type of illness, playing tapes and CDs of healing scriptures is a powerful way to build up your faith.
Soul: Mind: You can make a list of faith confessions and speak them daily or even several times a day depending on your situation. If you need physical healing, speak healing scriptures; if you need financial healing, speak prosperity scriptures; if you need freedom from fear or anxiety, speak faith scriptures.
Will: If you need to bring healing to your will, set a goal. Break it into smaller, doable steps and begin. Do not set unrealistic goals. Losing 50 pounds in 3 weeks is unrealistic. You will fail and damage your will. Instead set a realistic, measurable goal. I’ll stay with the weight loss scenario. Let’s say you commit to exercise 30 minutes three times a week. Write this appointment with yourself into your daily planner and do not allow anything to sidetrack you. Each and every time you keep your appointment with yourself, you are building up, strengthening and healing your will.
Emotions: Be honest. Even if you think you are, you may not be honest about your feelings. When someone says something that hurts or offends you, rather than keeping it inside and stewing about it, go to the Lord in prayer about it. Ask Him to show you if there is any truth in it. If there is, receive it and use it to grow. If there is not, forgive the person for hurting you, believing the best about them – that they did not intentionally mean to hurt you. Also, if you are sad, angry, upset, anxious or happy – express it honestly. Speak the truth - in love! Repressed emotions are eventually expressed inappropriately.
Body: There’s too much to share here to go into it all, but very briefly, probably the most important thing is to balance your pH so that rather than being acidic, you keep your inner ecology alkaline. This is critical for remaining healthy. Disease cannot live in an alkaline environment. The basics are: drink adequate water, eat a variety of vegetables, especially dark, green leafy ones, use a green drink daily, manage stress and get enough minerals. This will help keep your pH balanced. (For more info read my article at http://www.threedimensionalvitality.com/Articles.html)
You can eat the very highest quality foods and not get the full benefit if you are not eating in a serene, peaceful environment – both within yourself and in your home. Before you sit down to a meal, try to set the mood so that your digestion will be smooth and efficient. Properly combining your foods will give you the most benefit as well as properly preparing them. You can get more information on how to do this by visiting http://www.threedimensionalvitality.com/Healthnotes.html.
Last but not least by any means, pray. Pray first thing in the morning. Pray over each meal asking God to bless it and use it for the health, energy, healing and protection of your body. You have no idea how powerful those words are. Read the September 27, 2008 blog post entitled “What You Speak Has a Profound Impact on Your Health” by going to http://fatherreallydoesknowbest.blogspot.com. Pray before you go to bed and at every point in between. Saturate your day with prayer that is spoken in the Name of Jesus and based on His Word. There is no better way to create a healing atmosphere than that! Enjoy this excellent article by Brad Denham:
"You vs. Stress! Who's Winning Your Battle?"
Are you in a season where managing your stress is more difficult than ever before? Whether you are experiencing the most stressful time of your life or battling chronic everyday stress, it’s time to take notice. Just because stress has become part of our daily lives, is not a reason we must accept it. The fact is, stress is very unhealthy and we must be the managers of it.
Do you know that, according to the American Institute of Stress, 70% to 90% of all visits to the primary care physician’s office are related to stress disorders? It is clear folks: stress is your enemy and the battle is intense.
According to the Hearthmath organization, stress may be the number one health problem in America today. Dr. Don Colbert, in his book Stress Less, talks about excessive stress predisposing us to the following health problems: cardiovascular disease, hypertension, elevated cholesterol, heart attack, stroke, acid reflux and rheumatoid arthritis. Stress also impairs your immune system and leads to chronic and recurrent ear infections, colds, sinus infections, sore throats, bouts with the flu and bronchitis. This is just a sampling of the destructive results of stress Dr. Colbert shares.
What is the point? If you want to be healthy, reduce your stress and do it now.
There are numerous successful methods of reducing stress that play a significant role in maintaining health; prayer, yoga, exercise, meditation and so forth. Eating correctly is another important way to control stress, as you are learning from Ann’s wonderful newsletters.
My focus is managing it at the source first so that stress doesn’t become chronic and cause serious health problems. If we can build a “stress wall” around us that deflects stress and keeps it at bay, we have accomplished a great deal.
This awareness is critical to building that wall: our problems don’t “produce” the stress, it is the way we think about our problems. Unhealthy thinking (worry, anxiety, negativity, etc.) are the major sources of stress. One example of stress-filled thinking is choosing to focus on what is wrong at work or in your life. This creates stress. Notice I said “creates it,” because it is your choice to think in an unhealthy way.
The decisions you make in choosing your thoughts will determine your stress level. Turn those problems that cause stress over to God. He wants to carry those burdens. Then instead of choosing to focus on all that is going wrong, search for opportunities, blessings, and what might be possible in your problems. I guarantee your stress will be reduced.
I am not telling you to deny the problems in your life. Rather, accept them for what they are and turn the opposite way (in your mind) and move towards what you want; live in the solution, as some would say.
Discover what you can do right now to move forward. What is the next step? Choose healthy thoughts and put a stop to your life-threatening stress.

NUTRITION NUGGET: Antioxidants Antioxidants are nutrients in foods which can prevent or slow oxidative damage to your body. When your body cells use oxygen, they naturally produce free radicals, unpaired atoms that cause cell damage. Free radicals are produced by metabolism, eating unhealthy fats, fried foods, processed foods, diseases such as cancer, arthritis, MS, asthma, infections, even simply breathing! It is a type of "rust" that occurs in our cells. Antioxidants act as "free radical scavengers".
Five of the most important antioxidants are vitamins C and E, alpha-lipoic acid, glutathione and Co-enzyme Q10. The top twenty antioxidant foods according to a study in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry are: dried Mexican red beans, wild blueberries, red kidney beans, pinto beans, cultivated blueberries, cranberries, cooked artichokes, blackberries, prunes, raspberries, strawberries, Red Delicious apples, Granny Smith apples, pecans, cherries, black plums, russet potatoes, dried black beans, red plums, and Gala apples.
SUPPLEMENT SPOTLIGHT: Vitamin C
You are probably quite familiar with this vitamin. Popping vitamin C to prevent a cold is a common practice. Vitamin C is an antioxidant and produces collagen, which forms and maintains your bones, cartilage, muscle and blood vessels. Vitamin C deficiency causes fatigue, swollen, bleeding gums, nosebleeds, weakness and in an extreme deficiency, scurvy. Besides oranges and other citrus fruit, good sources include broccoli, strawberries, cantaloupe, papaya, guava and red bell peppers.
This all may or may not be new information for you. But do you know the best form of vitamin C to take? I talk about whole food or food based supplements all the time. When you take food-based supplements you need much less because they are absorbed and utilized more effectively. Vitamin C is a great example. Dr. Linus Pauling made the ascorbic acid form of this vitamin famous. It happens to be only one isolated form of vitamin C. Ascorbic acid is typically made from high fructose corn syrup or another sugar and acetone. Since ascorbic acid and acetone are very acidic, it is usually buffered with calcium carbonate, which is a type of rock, so it's easier on your body. Bet you didn't realize you were taking a chemical buffered by a rock! Research has shown that ascorbic acid alone can actually suppress immune function. So much for fighting off a cold! The natural, food-based forms of vitamin C come from Acerola, Amla, and Camu Camu and include the co-factors like citrus bioflavonoids and rose hips that enable your body to absorb and use it more efficiently. My suggestion is to focus on foods and a food-based supplement to ensure adequate vitamin C and a strong immune system.

WORD TO THE WISE
Proverbs 15:4 As a tree gives fruit, healing words give life, but dishonest words crush the spirit.
Words are the primary building blocks of your atmosphere – they can create healing, peace and success or bitterness, anger and discouragement. Every day we can choose the words we will use. I choose to fill my environment with life-giving, healing words of blessing and God’s truth. I choose to speak only healing words of encouragement and grace to others. When I have something difficult to share with someone, I ask the Lord to help me speak the truth in love. How about you? What words is your life being filled with?
