ANN'S ARTICLE: "Why Should We Cleanse Our Temple?"

According to the recently released Fourth National Report on Human Exposure to Environmental Chemicals, 2009, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that researchers found 212 (!) chemicals in people's blood or urine samples, including 75 which had never even been seen in the American people before now.

The umbilical cord blood of 10 newborn babies in the United States was also studied and researchers found an average of 200 industrial chemicals and pollutants in babies’ cord blood, including pesticides, consumer product ingredients (including PFOA from Teflon) and wastes from burning coal, gasoline and garbage!

Of the 287 total chemicals detected in umbilical cord blood,
180 are known carcinogens (cause cancer), 217 are brain and nervous system toxins and 208 have caused birth defects or abnormal development in animals!

Because we live in such a toxic environment, this key is first and of great importance. Every 3-D Program begins with detox. However, the difference is we address toxins that affect the spirit and soul as well as the body! If your car’s filters are dirty and clogged, it backfires, sputters and stalls. When you are clogged with toxins the same thing happens to you! A clogged digestive filter may result in constipation or indigestion; a clogged respiratory filter may cause chest congestion or asthma; clogged emotional filters may cause depression or anxiety; clogged spiritual filters can result in fearfulness or pride.

For example, your soul includes your mind, will and emotions – and so this would include negative, destructive thoughts, speech, habits, attitudes, emotions and relationships. 3 John 2 says: “Beloved I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.” God’s will is for us to be healthy and prosper – spirit, soul and body. Negative emotions are toxic to you physically and can affect hormones, digestion and immune function making you more vulnerable to disease.

Most prevalent is what is called "stinkin thinkin," toxic, negative thought patterns that have been created resulting in low self-esteem, inability to trust and always expecting the worst. This kind of thinking and self-talk has been proven to powerfully and negatively affect your physical health as much as ingesting toxins does.

I apply Biblical principles that enable you to take thoughts captive (2 Cor. 10:5) and renew your mind to God’s Word (Phil. 4:8 and Rom. 12:2) – which is what doctors refer to as cognitive behavioral therapy! I call it the "3C’s – Capture, Cancel and Confess." There are other unique strategies built in to every program, all based on sound Biblical principles.

GUEST ARTICLE: "SPRING CLEANING FOR THE SPIRIT" BY RACHEL CHILDERS

Have you ever worked with someone who didn’t bathe on a regular basis? It is not a very pleasant experience, and believe me, I know! Keeping ourselves clean is important to staying healthy. We all know this. But it is not just the physical clean that we need to be concerned with. Having a clean, pure spirit is more important to a longer life than having a clean exterior. In fact, it’s the only way to live forever.

It was a long time ago when I decided to accept that God had sent his son to earth to die for all my sins, but I still remember the prayer that my pastor asked me to repeat: “Dear God, I know I am a sinner and I cannot save myself. I believe you sent your son to die on the cross to save me from my sins. Please come into my life and make me clean.” Now, I didn’t pray this so that God could make me physically clean. I was a teenage girl, so I spent a very long time in the shower everyday, just ask my mom! I prayed this prayer so that God could clean my spirit and make me feel good on the inside. That’s what God does. He makes us feel good on the inside and then we tend to take better care of the outside when the inside feels better. There is a book in the Bible called 1 John. In chapter 1 verse 9 it says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (NIV). All we have to do is ask God for forgiveness and we are cleansed. If you feel like you need a little spring-cleaning of the soul, God can make it sparkle. It’s kind of like cleaning all the dust off the trim around your house. No one really notices it but you, but it feels so good to have it clean!

If you are already a Christian, I learned something just the other day that you might enjoy hearing. I was listening to a psychiatrist who came to speak at my local MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group. He said that Christians have the healthiest lifestyle. It only took me a few minutes to figure out why. We strive to seek God in everything we do. In the book of the Bible called Hebrews there is a verse that describes this perfectly. It is in chapter 10 and it is verse 22. It says, “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience….” We try to get close to God as much as we can and He keeps us cleansed from all the stuff the world dumps on us. I know it is hard to remember to let go of the worldly things and let God clean up our guilty conscience but if we want a clean spirit we have to ask him for forgiveness and get close to him on a regular basis. Whenever I have a troubled conscience or get stressed out and worried about the little things, as we so often do, I think of sending all my troubles up to God in a little tube, like the ones at the bank. This may seem silly but it works for me. When that tube comes back it is full of nothing but God’s love and understanding (although I wouldn’t mind that occasional Dum Dum sucker!!).

NUTRITION NUGGET: GREEN VEGETABLES

Including green vegetables in your daily meals is one of the best things you can do to improve your overall health. Besides being high in cleansing, nourishing chlorophyll, they alkalize your body, making it resistant to disease and making weight loss easier; they're low calorie, low fat, nutrient dense, overflowing with vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants, phytochemicals and other health-promoting compounds. They should be part of your daily meal plan.

SUPPLEMENT SPOTLIGHT: CHLOROPHYLL

Chlorophyll is "plant blood." It's the molecule in plants that provides the green pigment. Human blood has iron as its central atom and chlorophyll has magnesium. Hemoglobin, which is part of every one of our red blood cells, transports oxygen throughout our bodies. Numerous studies have been done on the similarity of hemoglobin and chlorophyll. This similarity in their structure allows chlorophyll to be readily absorbed and used by us as a blood strengthener. It is found in green vegetables, green cereal grass drinks like wheat grass and algaes like chlorella and spirulina.

FEATURED PRODUCT: CHLORELLA

Chlorella is a type of algae, the fastest reproducing single cell found in nature and the richest source of chlorophyll! It's an effective heavy metal detoxing agent as well as an excellent source of protein, beta carotene, B vitamins and RNA/DNA. Purium offers it in both tablet and powder form.

WORD TO THE WISE: FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT - JOY!

Joy is not only the second fruit of the spirit, but what I consider our spiritual secret weapon! Joy is one of the most powerful spiritual forces in the world. We are told in Psalm 16:11 that in the presence of God is fullness of joy and in Nehemiah 8:10 that the joy of the Lord is our strength. If you are feeling weak - spiritually, emotionally or even physically - check your joy. Since joy is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, it already resides within you. You must develop it, confess it, and live by it if you want to enjoy its power. Joy is not the same as "happiness." Happiness depends on outward circumstances. Joy is defined as 'an inner gladness; a deep-seated pleasure; a depth of assurance and confidence that ignites a cheerful and rejoicing heart.' You can't have true joy apart from God. I encourage you to draw near to Him, fill yourself with His joy and do as 1 Thessalonians 5:16 instructs and "be joyful always!"
